An acceptable pressure at the compressor does not establish adequate delivery at the far end of the network.

What the work can include
Work covers assessment of compressors, receivers, dryers, filtration, drains, distribution and controls within the agreed installation. Servicing, repairs and proposed alterations are linked to equipment records and the required duty. The handover identifies the work completed and the maintenance or examination arrangements that remain necessary.
The instruction identifies the service boundaries and the information expected at completion. Any additional finding receives a clear next action, so a completed visit does not hide work still required elsewhere in the system.
Important technical decisions
Pressure, flow and air quality are separate parts of the brief. Increasing the pressure setting is not a substitute for finding restrictions or assessing demand. The required dryness and cleanliness depend on the end use; ordinary plant air must not be assumed suitable for breathing or a specialist process.
Stored pressure remains a hazard after the compressor stops. Isolation and release of stored energy need planned procedures. Where pressure-system examination requirements apply, equipment servicing and the examination under a written scheme are distinct activities, with their respective records retained.
Assessment and preparation
Provide compressor and receiver details, drawings, operating hours, service records and the written scheme and examination reports where applicable. Include pressure complaints, production demand and previous changes to outlets. Identify the person authorising shutdown and the plant that cannot operate without air.
Reliable asset references help connect the survey, quotation and completion record. Share existing documents even where they are incomplete, and identify known changes so the assessment can establish which information still describes the installed arrangement.
How the work proceeds
Assessment follows the air from generation through treatment and distribution to the affected use. Findings separate local leaks, equipment defects and capacity or quality questions. Repairs and alterations are followed by the relevant operating checks, with settings and outstanding actions recorded.

Cost, timing and disruption
Compressor duty, treatment equipment, pipework extent, access and shutdown windows affect the price. Parts and inspection preparation can influence duration. Compare quotations against the same equipment list and tasks, including drains, filters and the records needed after work.
Identify critical operating periods and any available standby arrangement when requesting a proposal. The work plan must reflect the actual service remaining during shutdown, rather than assume that another installed item can automatically carry the full load.

Frequently asked questions
Will raising the pressure fix weak tools?
Not necessarily. Demand, restrictions, leaks and equipment condition need assessment before a setting or capacity change.
Is all compressed air suitable for breathing?
No. Breathing-air systems have distinct quality and safety requirements. State the actual use explicitly so an ordinary plant-air instruction is not mistaken for that service.
Why is water reaching the outlets?
Treatment, drainage, operating conditions and distribution may be involved. The investigation should follow the system rather than replace one visible component without diagnosis.
Does servicing include the pressure-system examination?
Only if that separate activity is expressly included and arranged through the appropriate competent person. A service report does not replace an examination required under the written scheme.
